During the pandemic, social media perhaps intensified its influence on everyone’s life, although one might think it has reached its peak a long time ago. But during the shutdown, it became the sole communication experience people could access. But from a perspective of nursing, it might have played even a more significant role – since the communication is instant, it enabled the medical staff, for example, to locate those in need as quickly as possible and facilitate the organization of help for these individuals.
Zotero
I was recommended it by a friend, who was also involved in heavy academic research. They claimed that it resolved all the clutter in their found and to-read articles, providing them with a separated space and an array of organization tools.
The program, available for download on all the major desktop platforms, comes with a browser plugin that enables the user to save articles found on the web in seconds. This is why Zotero is such an efficient tool: while you browse the web, you save the articles you deem interesting with a click and later review and organize them inside Zotero. As mentioned on their website, it is “a free, easy-to-use tool to help you collect, organize, cite, and share research” (Zotero). The interface is minimal and intuitive, with a customizable tag system and a recognizable library tree layout. Overall, Zotero is a simple yet efficient tool with just the right number of features, and its appeal is in its genius simplicity. It is just an organized space for the references for your paper or a project, and that is why it can be recommended to anyone from a student to an academic scholar to an independent researcher. It helped me in my nurse studies in a way that it provided better organization for the articles and books I have to read for projects and papers.
