Leadership in the Sphere of Public Health
The key aspects that are treated by the contemporary public health experts are the specifications of human rights violation, HIV/AIDS regulation, and illicit drugs control policies (Beyrer & Pizer, 2007). The issue of HIV/AIDS programming requires both medical treatment development and some considerate organizational leadership control. This study reviews the application of the Fiedler Contingency Model to the conception of HIV/AIDS monitoring. According to the recent studies, there is an urgent need to address the issue with the usage of active initiatives, which mainly concerns the HIV/AIDS-prone states. The leaders have to enter the spheres of research, policies, advocacy, and program management so that to ensure the elimination of the global problem.
Fiedler Contingency Model Implementation
The Fiedler Contingency Model unites the qualities of situational leadership with the specifications of the particular styles of management (Leadership theory: Situational approach/contingency theory 2012). In the case of HIV/AIDS control, one may consider the aspect of the leader’s position to be a fundament of the treatment. Since the HIV/AIDS problem is a challenge for a global society, which has not found its complete eradication yet, a real leader, who works with the patients, has to practice extreme tolerance, will, and determination, for it is crucial to bring to people that this illness should not make the patients feel inferior. The relationships between leaders and subordinates have to be trustful. It is a primary task of the manager to inspire the employees for overtaking supportive attitudes toward HIV/AIDS infected.
Determining the Core Aspect of Leadership Motivation
The typical case of leadership application in the domain of HIV/AIDS treatment is the promotion of adaptation programs for the patients. Thus, it may be claimed that a central figure, which coordinates the challenging process should possess some essential features such as self-control, empathy, purpose mastery, and personal influence (Lynn, 2008). The aspects concern two dimensions of contingency model: task-orientation and relations-orientation.
Contingency as a Stipulator of Leadership Relationships
It is crucial establishing a balance between a task-orientation and relationships-direction in the case. The situational leadership, which accounts for the adaptation to the conditions of group work as well as the setting, has to be marked with the understanding of such aspects as poverty, inferiority, and sexual disorders, for these issues apply to the evolving of HIV/AIDS disease (Gupta, 2011). The so-called people-orientation should also regard the relations between leaders and their subordinates, for favorable environment improves the quality of work (Gupta, 2008).
Summarizing the Specifications of Fiedler Model Application
The issue of HIV/AIDS disease is one of the most troublesome questions for the public health specialists. In this work, we investigated the implementation of Fiedler’s Contingency Model with reference to the illness. According to the findings of the study, a real leader, who works in the identified sphere must experience both task- and relations-orientation so that to ensure the high quality of the work outcomes.
