The problem that affects the target organization is that the medical center does not have well-trained professionals to work with addiction and related disorders. This affects the center’s capability of meeting the needs of its clients and delivering high-quality service to them. The goal of the organization is to have qualified and clinically competent professionals who could provide an appropriate level of care to patients.
The audit loop used to resolve the issue will include current practice assessment, comparison with standards and other medical centers to identify gaps, analyzing the problem through research, designing solutions, implementing them to improve practice, and evaluating new practice for implementation success. Sometime after the implementation of changes, this process will be repeated to assess progress and suggest further improvements as needed. The audit loop will need to be supported by research; namely, a skill gap analysis and a Training Needs Assessment. The first part of the study will help to identify the differences between the staff’s current competencies and desirable competencies. The second part of the research will focus on surveying the staff to determine what types of training need to be provided to reach the desired level of competency.
The results drawn from research and other parts of the audit will be used to design and implement a solution to the organization’s problem. Based on recommendations, the medical center will be able to develop a training program for the staff to enhance their skills and knowledge. By implementing a solution and achieving the goal, the organization will be able to work more efficiently by creating a workforce capable of meeting a full range of clients’ needs. The implementation of new training opportunities will also affect work efficiency by ensuring the staff’s continued development and introducing more variety into the work, thus preventing burnout and reducing turnover. On the whole, performing the audit loop will have a positive impact on the organization and its operations.
